From Search to Data Collection to Publication: How to Conduct Clinical Studies for Ceramic Implants in the AI Generation

Ceramic implantology can only establish itself as a credible scientific field if it is built on reliable, verifiable evidence. This two-day workshop equips clinicians with a practical, AI-assisted workflow to do exactly that — from formulating a research question to producing a publication-ready draft. Participants will learn to conduct structured literature searches, verify sources rigorously, and build concise evidence tables. In the second module, they apply these findings to their own clinical cases: standardizing case documentation, structuring data for scientific aggregation, and developing a poster skeleton or 10-minute talk storyboard. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have the tools to contribute meaningfully to the growing evidence base in ceramic implantology.

His research focuses on peri-implant diseases, soft-tissue management, and evidence-based clinical protocols. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and serves on multiple committees of the American Academy of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration. He is a board member of the ICBI.

Prof. Neugebauer is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, board member of the BDIZ EDI, and — as the first German ever — was elected President of the Academy of Osseointegration (2024/2025). She holds degrees from Tufts University and UCLA, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, and a Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration. With over 35 years in private prosthodontic and implant practice, she has served as President of the Academy of Osseointegration — one of the most prestigious roles in international implantology. Keynote Abstract
Surgery is a controlled biological injury — and healing is a redox-regulated, nutrient-dependent process, not merely a technical event. This keynote introduces a systems-based framework in which surgical outcomes are shaped by the patient's biochemical terrain: redox balance, micronutrient status, endothelial function, metabolic control, and microcirculation. Using dental implant osseointegration as a uniquely visible biological model, Dr. Cheng reviews the orthomolecular determinants of healing — including the roles of Vitamin C in collagen scaffold formation, Vitamin D in osteoimmunology and integration success, magnesium and Vitamin K2 in bone mineralization quality, and glucose control in angiogenesis and wound repair. The talk proposes a practical pre- and post-operative optimization framework and makes the case that the future of biological dentistry lies in systemic terrain optimization — not surgical technique alone.

Dr. Gregor Hočevar graduated with highest honors from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ljubljana in 1996, receiving both the Prešeren Award and the Oražen Prize for the best graduate of his generation. He founded his private dental clinic in 1999 and in 2017 became the first dentist in Slovenia to earn the title of Specialist for Biological Dentistry and Ceramic Implants, completing a two-year postgraduate program in Germany and Switzerland. In 2022 he was awarded a Master of Science in Oral Implantology from the International University of Health Sciences in Rome, with a focus on immediate ceramic implant placement in the aesthetic zone. He developed the GH technique — a proprietary surgical approach for immediate implantation that significantly improves soft tissue outcomes. He is a Swiss Dental Solutions Ambassador and founder of Center Hočevar, Slovenia's leading center for metal-free biological dentistry.

Dr. Robert Bauder is a dentist based in Kitzbühel, Austria, with over 24 years of expertise in holistic, aesthetic, and biologically oriented dentistry. He has specialized in ceramic implantology since 1998 and brings more than 18 years of hands-on experience with ceramic implants. His clinical focus encompasses biological dentistry with focus field diagnostics and remediation, metal-free all-ceramic restorations, ceramic implants, CAD/CAM immediate restorations, and periodontics. He is one of a small number of clinicians contributing case data from three independent centers to the ICBI retrospective multicenter study.

Prof. Dr. Klemens Skibicki is one of Germany's most recognized experts on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the future of work. Born in 1972, he studied Business Administration and Economics at the University of Cologne, where he also completed his doctorate in Economic History in 2001. From 2004 to 2019 he held a professorship for Economics, Marketing and Market Research at the Cologne Business School, and serves as Scientific Director of the German Institute for Communication and Law on the Internet (DIKRI). In 2012 he co-founded the digital strategy consultancy Convidera, which grew to 70 employees advising DAX corporations and mid-sized companies on digital transformation before he sold his stake in 2016 to focus exclusively on keynote speaking and advisory work. He is a member of the Federal Government's advisory council on the young digital economy and a Digital Ambassador of the NRW Minister of Economics. With over 1,000 keynotes delivered across business, politics, and society, he is known for making complex transformation processes — from AI to platform economics — accessible, concrete, and actionable.
Abstract
Artificial intelligence is not replacing dentists — but it is fundamentally reshaping what it means to run a dental practice, attract patients, and build a team. This lecture examines how AI is already transforming the business side of healthcare: from automated patient journeys and AI-driven marketing to smart scheduling, documentation, and practice analytics. Drawing on cross-industry insights, Prof. Skibicki maps which workflows are ripe for automation, which roles will evolve, and which human competencies will become more — not less — valuable in an AI-driven practice environment. The talk closes with a practical framework for dental professionals who want to lead the transition rather than merely react to it.

He is the founder of Biohealth Dental Spain (BDS) in Benidorm, Alicante — a pioneering biological dentistry clinic on Spain's Costa Blanca — and serves as Senior AI Dental Consultant and Mentor at Nexacore Ltd, Malta. He was the first dentist in Spain to be certified as a Specialist in Biological Dentistry and Ceramic Implants, and in 2024 became the world's first dentist to obtain the Real Biodentist Level 2 certification. He is an active international speaker in Spanish, German, and English, and serves as Ambassador of Excellence in Ceramic Implantology for Switzerland's Swiss Biohealth Education Center.

Over a third of dental practices have already adopted AI — yet the conversation about how it is actually being used, and what it may be doing to the professionals who use it, has barely begun. This lecture offers a practical and reflective overview of AI across four key areas of daily practice: diagnostic imaging, patient communication, clinical marketing, and internal management. Drawing from real patterns observed in clinical consulting, each area is examined not only for its potential, but for the subtle ways it may be reshaping how clinicians reason, decide, and lead their practices.

He is a sought-after conference speaker and author on artificial intelligence and technological transformation in healthcare.
Abstract
The rapid evolution of AI necessitates a rigorous framework for understanding its capabilities and limitations. This lecture characterizes Large Language Models (LLMs) as high-dimensional statistical architectures whose outputs constitute probabilistic inferences rather than objective truths — a distinction with direct consequences for clinical practice. Key risks examined include hallucinations (syntactically plausible but factually erroneous outputs), systemic bias from non-representative training data, and the reproducibility crisis exacerbated by AI in scientific literature. At the same time, the talk highlights the transformative potential of AI in image-based diagnostics: advanced pattern recognition for radiographic and photographic data can significantly enhance diagnostic sensitivity and the detection of subtle pathological transitions. The lecture concludes by advocating for a model in which algorithmic assistance is strictly governed by human analytical competence and clinical judgment — ensuring ethical and evidentiary rigor.

Collective Intelligence — From Generic Tool to Individual Agent

Dr. Karl Ulrich Volz studied dentistry at the University of Ulm and completed his doctoral dissertation on the detection of amalgam components in dental pulp. Following his residency at the South German Centre for Oral Implantology, in 1992 he established a private practice focused exclusively on metal-free dentistry. From 2001 he developed the Z-Look zirconium oxide implant, one of the first approved two-piece ceramic implants, and founded Z-Systems in 2004. In 2007 he founded SDS Swiss Dental Solutions, which under his leadership became the market-leading ceramic implant system before its sale to Gilde Healthcare in 2023. He is the originator of the biological-immunological treatment philosophy The Swiss Biohealth Concept and inventor of several clinical procedures (SCC Short Cut Concept, ALL-IN-ONE, AIM Anatomical Implantation Method, RAP Rebuild Aesthetics Procedure, GAP Guided Augmentation Procedure). His system was the first worldwide to receive dual CleanImplant certification. In 2016 he founded the Swiss Biohealth Clinic in Kreuzlingen, and in 2017 the Swiss Biohealth Education Center, which trains more than 4,000 participants annually. Dr. Volz has personally placed more than 30,000 ceramic implants since 2001. On the ICBI platform of the Nice 2025 Consensus Conference he is designated “founder of modern ceramic implantology”. He is President of the Foundation Board of the ICBI (International Circle for Biological Implantology) and author of the Longevity Fast Track Guide.
Abstract
In its standard use, artificial intelligence remains a better search engine: interchangeable, without voice. This presentation introduces Collective Intelligence as the convergence of three layers — the practitioner's individual DNA, the accumulated knowledge of the field, and the processing capacity of modern AI. Only this convergence produces tools that speak with the practitioner's voice and carry their decision logic.

At its core stands an operational concept: the practitioner's DNA — identity, goals, values, audience — as a curated knowledge space that nourishes multiple specialised agents. Instead of one universal chat, agents work in parallel: one for patient communication, one for insurance correspondence, one for treatment planning, others for practice organisation and personal health. Each agent is highly individual because each draws from the same curated source. The talk presents the architecture, the methodology, and concrete applications from the dental practice — showing why liberation from repetitive communication does not lead to depersonalisation, but on the contrary, to a sharper, more personal practice voice.
